Avui he fet la meva segona conferència!!!

FEEDBACK FROM DAVID HOLMES:
Ester is on terra firma and comes across very well. The fact that she’s a state-school teacher who knows the realities of the ESO classroom works, is clear, as is the fact that she used her blog regularly, creatively and successfully with her classes. Suggestions for next time:
1) It was a shame that we saw so little of her blog, which really is excellent! We got glimpses of it, but the only time we really got to see any details was the last 5 or 10 mins. To be fair, Ester did give them the address of her blog so that they could look round at their leisure but I would still like to have been shown more in the session. Things like seeing how she colour-coded the activities was very useful. She also mentioned how skills work could be tied into different features (eg a listening is much more motivating when it’s called a podcast and a writing can be sexed up as a blog entry) but only briefly – I think she could look at some of these in much more detail and focus on more examples.
2) Ester talked a lot about the advantages of blogs, what you can do with them but my overall impression was that there was too much explanation and not enough practical info. I didn’t learn anything about how to upload web tools or students’ work, only that it was possible. She mentioned terms like ‘gadget’s’ and ‘widgets’ – it would have been nice to see examples of these and learn how to upload them, especially as we had a live internet connection.
Summary: less theory, more practical examples. Maybe elicit from teachers other ways to practise certain skills work (could put them in groups to think of examples). Focus in more detail on how and what to upload and how to organise your blog. I would like to have come out of the session feeling confident about setting up my own blog, managing it and structuring its contents. I know I have the opportunity of visiting Ester’s blog and contacting her at any time to ask questions (this was a nice gesture which they appreciated) but I would like to have come away with more from the session itself.
